Bite-Sized Dog Wins Shortest Canine Competition

Bite-Sized Dog Wins Shortest Canine Competition

A 2-year-old chihuahua named Pearl has been officially recognized as the world’s shortest dog by Guinness World Records.

The diminutive doggie is a mere 3.59 inches tall, which makes her shorter than a popsicle stick. At five inches long, weighing little more than a pound, Pearl could hide behind a dollar bill.

Pearl lives in Florida, but recently jetted to Milan to appear on Guinness’s Italian TV talent show, Lo Show Dei Record, where her owner, Vanesa Semler, described her as “a bit of a diva,” who likes fine food and “dressing up nice.” Semler also owned the previous record holder, another Chihuahua named Miracle Milly, who died in 2020 at age nine.

The tallest dog in the world is a 3-year-old American Great Dane from Texas, who stands an impressive three feet, five inches off the ground. Pearl wouldn’t stand a chance.

Guinness posted a 3-minute video of wee Pearl on Twitter.
