It’s Pamela Anderson’s Birthday!
We’re celebrating the birthday of Pamela Anderson, animal rights activist among other credits, who was born on July 1, 1967. Vogue earlier this year dubbed Anderson “Hollywood’s Top Bombshell.” All good, but we love her for her inner beauty, radiating specifically from her love of animals.
Anderson has campaigned against bullfighting, SeaWorld, wearing fur, and eating meat. Her most famous PETA ad shows her, scantily-clad,with body parts sectioned and labeled like cuts of meat. It was banned in Montreal.
Anderson’s career was launched in 1989, when the 22-year-old beauty was picked out of the crowd by a cameraman at a BC Lions football game in Vancouver. Fans cheered wildly at Anderson's image on the Jumbotron, so much so that she was escorted down to the field to a standing ovation. Within weeks she was the spokesmodel for Labatt beer, and within months on the cover of Playboy. (She holds the record for Playboy covers: 13 – and counting.)
Her many other causes include the International Fund for Animal Welfare, California Wildlife Center, Waves for Water, and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Watch Pamela – in her birthday suit – campaign against SeaWorld here: youtube.com/watch?v=x64TykhnzNg.
