Bone Appetit! Dogue’s $75 Tasting Menu

Dogue, which is French for “mastiff,” is the brainchild of Rahmi Massarweh and wife Alejandra. At this posh new restaurant in San Francisco’s cool Mission District  you can watch your dog wolf down a three course meal for $75.

“What we do doesn’t generally exist,” Massarweh told the Los Angeles Times. “My approach is as if it were a human restaurant. It’s as if you have come into my restaurant, and the star guest is your dog.”

At the “pawtisserie” Buddy can tuck into green spirulina and pulled pork, made with organic pastured cream, forested pork shoulder, and raw unfiltered honey. “Inspired by the finest pastry chefs in the world and reimagined as a truly unique treat for dogs,” according to Dogue’s website.

The three-course meal served on Sundays is seasonal and in frequent rotation. Discerning mutts can choose from a sumptuous menu of treats, such as organic beef chuck steak with fermented carrots and beets or green-lipped mussels with fermented carrots and wheatgrass. Yum. We’d like some too.

Massarweh, who is trained in classical French cuisine, prepares and presents every dish, including the ones he makes for his own dogs: Grizzly (an actual mastiff), Luna, Achilles and Sir Wellington.
